Auxi del Olmo, mayor of Linares, inaugurated the II Days Against Gender Violence organized by the Área de Igualdad y Diversidad del Ayuntamiento under the theme #Linaresconectad@scontralaVG. This meeting is part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, and its first meeting took place in the Aula Magna hall of the Science and Technology Campus today. Experts and professionals from legal and judicial, as well as police and academic fields participated in this event with various presentations.
“This event is the continuation of the previous edition carried out last year in collaboration with the University of Jaen and reflects the commitment of our city Linares to be a referent in the fight against any form of violence against women. Today more than ever, combining efforts in all areas: social, educational, institutional and professional , it is necessary to prevent, pursue and protect women who are victims of any kind of violence, “said the mayor.
“Las mujeres, los niños y las niñas are at the center of our work, because gender violence not only affects women, but also directly affects the family, society and all of humanity. From Linares, we work tirelessly for the values that define us as a society: igualdad, respeto, tolerance, equidad, justicia y libertad. Etos valores deben ser el motor de nuestra educación, para que las nuevas crezaciones crezcan en un entorno de respeto mutuo y anlama,” Del Olmo added.
The mayor noted that “as a local administration, through the Igualdad Council, we undertake to follow policies and programs that guarantee a safe environment for all”. “Collaboration with professionals and experts in this field is essential to advance victim protection and education for equality. Today in Linares, we are proud to believe in the presence of great leaders in the fight against gender violence. His experience and tireless work is a beacon of hope for all victims and an example for us all.”
“Only with shared commitment and everyone's participation will we achieve a more egalitarian future where gender-based violence and violence against women are eradicated, where justice, true equality and the dignity of all people prevail at every corner.” , affirming the mayor, he stated that “Linares está y estará siempre comprometida con esta lucha, que no es si no, la lucha de todos.”
After the mayor's intervention, various presentations were held with the participation of Pilar Fernádez Pantoja, vice-rector for equality, diversity and social responsibility of the University of Jaen and professor of penal law; Isabel María Moreno Almagro, Judge of Juzgado de Violencia nº 1; Ana Carolina Parejo Mesa, Financial Representative for Victim Protection and Tutela in the Criminal Process; José Miguel Sánchez-Elipe García, Judge of the Court of First Instance and Linares nº 4 Instruction; Linares Local Police agents Ana Cerezuela, Ana Belen Martínez Quesada and Marta Pérez Fontecha and Luis López Blanco, Comisaría de Linares local police brigade leader.
Las II Jornadas contra la Violencia de Género will continue next Tuesday, November 26 at the El Posito exhibition hall with a presentation and subsequent round table from 10 am.
