Mk.gee brought an air of mystery to Studio 8H during his Saturday Night Live musical guest debut on Nov. 9.
The enigmatic 28-year-old multi-instrumentalist delivered captivating performances of his songs “Alesis” and “Rockman” on the long-running comedy sketch show, hosted by comedian Bill Burr.
During his first performance of the evening, Mk.gee (born Mike Gordon) took the stage in a dimly lit setting to deliver a haunting rendition of “Alesis” from his 2024 debut album, Two Star & The Dream Police. Later in the episode, he returned for a powerful performance of “Rockman,” joined by fellow musicians Zack Sekoff and Andrew Aged.
Currently on a world tour, Mk.gee will be heading to Australia in December. He also recently revealed he's been working in the studio ten Justin Bieber's upcoming album.
SNL will return on Nov. 16, with pop stars Charli XCX pulling double duty as both host and musical guest. While the Bro hitmaker has appeared as the musical guest twice before, this will be her first time hosting the show.
SNL has certainly kept Charli in the spotlight, especially in her Bro era. In the season premiere, cast member Bowen Yang even dressed in full Charlie drag for a sketch in which he portrayed the pop star hosting her own Talk Talk Show.
Even Charlie herself was impressed by the sketch. Speaking with Howard Stern, the singer shared that she thought Yang did “a great job” portraying her. “I think SNL is iconic,” she said. “We had a feeling it was coming, so we were really excited about it. I love Bowen… I was actually really impressed with the hair texture. I thought it was a great wig. It was good, it was cool.”
