The US Army confirmed this Tuesday that an Iranian-backed group bombed a weapons depot and logistics facility in Syria in response to the latest attack on American personnel at the Shaddadi Patrol Base (northeastern Syria).
“Today, the US Central Command (Centcom for its abbreviation in English) carried out a number of operations. It is carrying out bombings against the weapons and logistics warehouses of militias supported by Iranen respuesta a un misil lanzo contra nuestro personnel en la base de Shadaddi,” said a Centcom communiqué on Tampa (Florida).
El mismo, which did not say when the attack on its base in Syria took place, said there was no damage to US facilities or injuries among American forces or their partners during the attack.
The official text stated that these attacks “will reduce the ability of Iranian-backed groups to plan and carry out future attacks against American forces and coalition forces operating against ISIS (Islamic State) in the region.”

This new wave of bombing comes a day after the United States attacked nine targets in two locations linked to Iranian groups in Syria, “in response to various attacks against American personnel” in that country.
The US maintains a military presence in Syria to fight the Islamic State.
