Since the flood crisis began, Mercadona has donated more than 300 tons of essential items. These include non-perishable food items, hygiene items and other essentials, which are critical for families who have lost their homes or are facing economic hardships as a result of the disaster. The company has worked with charities and local social services to ensure these donations reach those most in need.
In addition to product donations, Mercadona has launched Alcem-se, an initiative aimed at supporting local companies severely affected by DANA. The initiative includes a €25 million fund for direct support to help these businesses recover and resume operations. This support is crucial for the local economy, as many SMEs depend on day-to-day trading.
Mercadona also launched a campaign to inform employees and customers about the current situation, encouraging them to make donations and support the affected communities. This supermarket chain uses digital platforms and social networks to provide information on how to help and where to donate.
