The province of Jaén adds 2,599 new blood donors, 220 more than last year – Linares28 – El diario digital de Linares

In this sense, Elena González said that last year in the state of Jaén “20,382 bags of blood were obtained, and on October 31 of this year we received 1,668 plasmapheresis donations at the same time” until 2023 1,654. 308 donors registered in REDMO in 2024, 154 donors closed by 2024.

Blood donation is a safe process with the participation of specialized medical personnel. An interview and medical examination are conducted before the removal. Men can donate blood up to four times a year, and women up to three times a year, with a gap of at least two months between donations. Specific characteristics of plasma donors are 15 days.

In this sense, it should be remembered that the health activities of Andalusian hospitals do not stop even in the summer months, when there are more transfusion situations. Thus, they still require blood reserves for all types of requests from hospitals, since more than 75% of blood donations are for the treatment of diseases diagnosed and treated during the summer season. Specifically, more than 30% of reserves are used to treat cancer or hematological diseases; 20% of abordaje de anemias; 20% surgical interventions, burns or organ transplantation; 10% assistance of heart muscles, stomach and kidneys; 8% attention during accidents and traumas; 8% of patients of orthopedics, fractures of joints and 4% recovery, cesarean section.
